You’re Having A Laugh

Can you remember the last time you had a really good, deep, belly laugh? Can you recall what brought it about? Is a humour session extremely rare for you? Do you, for some inexplicable reason, believe it is wrong to express your enjoyment of the good things in your life? Do you fear that you may upset someone of a lesser disposition?  There are many envious individuals out there who feel that only they are entitled to a bit of pleasure. They think the rest of the people, around them, are there at their beck and call. A sense of humour does not fit nor is it called for. They don’t want people making fun of them.

Well, I have news for you – and for them! Laughter is a therapy which brings about healing super fast. If only they could laugh. Then they may get a life rather than sitting, in the same old chair, all day long, and grumping about hardworking people who have neither the time nor the inclination to argue back. If only we could go back to the time of the music hall. We could learn a lot there. It was the Laughter Hospital. The masses, of that time, could not afford to see a doctor or to buy medicines. They went to see a comedian and participate in a sing song instead. Many of them overcame their illnesses, psychological and physical, and lived to a ripe old age.

Supportive people, loving family members who want your healing, enablers, encouraging and positive motivators, lovers of life who want the best for you. With these people around you you are well on the road to recovery. Accordionists, pianists, jazz men and tenderness are a perfect recipe for cliff climbers’ cake along with a nice strong cup of tea. Physical illnesses start in the mind with worry and neural pathways bent and twisted out of shape by narcissists. When grabbed by the throat and thrown against a wall, by a well meaning friend, they claim to only have their victim’s best interests at heart. That’s sick and sad. Perhaps they believe it. Who know? Baron Munchhausen perhaps?

To separate the people who like to encourage others from the desperate, disparate, naysayers is always the golden key. To take matters into one’s own hands and distance oneself is the platinum key. Humour is gold dust. Grumbling is coal dust. One brings about light whereas the other brings about darkness. Would you rather be covered in sparkly, light attracting,  gold sprinkles or dull, darkness attracting, coal sprinkles? Do you want comedy or tragedy? The choice is yours. Choose your friends carefully.

Have you ever been to see a healer? There are healers in many traditions.

Healing’s are brought about in many different ways. Even within a particular tradition each healer has his own technique or style. As a healer goes through the process of learning about, and developing, his healing abilities he is introduced to the practical aspect alongside the theory or knowledge of his craft. He will read relevant books as well as sensing, and opening up to, energy. Many students of healing are fulfilling a vocation which they have sensed for many years. It is as if they have been drawn into a vortex or a completely, different, dimension; a homecoming which only they can understand. They have reached their spot, on the stage of life, at last. They have attained that for which they have been searching throughout their entire, eternal, life; their connection with the Universe.

Healing emanates in many forms. Any push in the right direction, as long as it is taken on board, can heal. Chastisement from an elder can push an unruly child back on the tracks. Even being sent to prison can be cathartic. Should someone be offending more than occasionally the experience of being sent to prison, for a short time, can be enough to stop him in his tracks. Pushes in the right direction and chastisement are coming from a position of love; from the heart. The soul, or atma, the tiny particle of God, which is present in every living entity, is the source of all love and, therefore, healing. Over the millenia, throughout time, many places and circumstances, various methods of healing have come into being.
Reiki,as we now know it, was practiced in ancient Tibet. People of ancient cultures knew much more than we give them credit for. The people we, now, call professionals were monks in the ancient world. The monasteries were the seats of learning. They practiced law, medicine, provided mediation services, knew about sociology, taught children as well as carrying out their day to day monastic duties. Humility is the key to the fulfilment of all desires. Envy comes through arrogance and the ‘my, me mine’ concept – ‘Why does he have what belongs to me?’ True knowledge brings about the, ‘Everything belongs to God and all that I have He has put in my care’ concept and destroys the sense of apparent entitlement.
The ancient monks and priests knew their place as God’s servants and their lives were dedicated to bringing about a holistic healing of the whole creation; mind, body, spirit of every living entity. Study of scripture, herbs and poisons, how to serve and worship God, etiquette of worship, workings of the mind and cultures were all part of their study agenda.

Ancient man was well travelled and made contact with inhabitants of other lands. Sojourns were made by sea as well as by land. There were established routes between Egypt and what is now South America. Ancient Egypt traded with the Aztecs. Traces of cocaine have been found on mummies in Egypt.Coca leaf could not grow in the Egyptian climate. It could only have been brought from South America. Medicines were being manufactured and exported then as they are now.Only the mode of transport was different. In ancient times merchants used camels and donkeys to carry their goods to ports for export. It took months to get merchandise from A to B. Now it can be done in a couple of days.
Medicines were made from herbs and poisons. Traders would come and buy them and distribute them around the planet. They used well established routes which had existed for centuries. Along these routes there were many small business people, of the time, plying for trade. Blacksmiths, food vendors, dealers in precious metals and stones, doctors, homeopaths and herbalists, shoemakers and cobblers, leather workers, holy men who offered prayers, grain dealers, tailors, camel traders, and many more.

There are many people, in the world of today, who are multi talented and highly intelligent. However they find themselves stuck in mediocrity. This is due to their inability to focus. In the not so long ago, the time frame between the Industrial Revolution and the Victorian Era, despite bad working conditions there was a time of enlightenment of the working classes even if only slight. In order to learn how to operate machinery the workforce had to be literate. This brought into being the Poor Schools and Working Menś Colleges. These institutions focused on what was termed ‘the 3 R´s – reading, (w)riting and (a)rithmetic. The students learned the fundamentals of following written instructions, writing short reports and counting and recording the amount of pieces which they had produced in a dayś work. As far as the employers and society were concerned that was all they needed to know. They definitely did not want the working class in universities.

The outcome of industrialisation was that, in the towns, there were many jobs, in a lot of different genres, available. When one was in a rural setting there was only the need to think about the job which had been handed down, for many generations, from father to son. At that time working life started early at around 11 years old.

On leaving the countryside one had an opportunity to make a different life. With the offer of jobs of many kinds available it could be a tad disorienting. Despite the missionaries, in the cities and towns, preaching to the ´great unwashed´, about the evils of alcohol and other apparent sins, many souls were lost due to the exploitation of hardworking people who needed relief from the drudgery. The outcome was that their physical health slipped due to the despair which affected their mental health.
All ability to focus was lost. A great many people found themselves in disarray. Work related stress, inability to provide a decent living for their families, physical illnesses, and mental illness such as depression befuddled a generation.
Reiki would definitely have come in handy in those times when medications were not readily available to the poor and many died of what are now seen to be common ailments.

It was not till the next generation that Dr Mikao Usui rediscovered Reiki. The story of how this came about is quite commonly known to those in the alternative health community. This healing system uses symbols based on the kanji of the Japanese alphabet and their pronunciations; similar to the Vedic yantras and mantras. These can be seen, for example, on Google Images. Reiki realigns the chakras and material, subtle and spiritual bodies. The lost and hidden arts of times long gone are now coming back to the fore. These are, currently, more common in the East than in the West. There is an ongoing discussion as regards the efficacy of Eastern methods over Western. There is said to be a difference in the methods. The Eastern method is apparently more pure. However it would seem to make more sense that the sincerity of the medium comes into play. How open is the person, through whom the healing is being channelled, to a complete healing taking place? To what extent is the recipient, of the healing, open to being healed? Sincerity is the key.

Fixed hand positions are, in many cases, used in Reiki. However these would appear to not always be necessary. ´Absent´ healing techniques can also be used in close proximity to the client. Visualisation techniques can take the healer inside the body and mind of the person, or animal, being healed. Reiki is independent and can heal or not. It works through the therapist rather than being worked by the therapist. The client can be completely healed in one session or in more. It is up to the Reiki energy. You know when the Reiki is working. You feel it. The therapist is also affected by the energy. Reiki works on and through everything which it touches. Should a Reiki Therapist just imagine himself working with someone that person will benefit even more than if he is standing next to them. There are therapists who do not need a lot in the way of training. This is because they have acquired the ability in a previous life. It is flowing into this lifetime. Now it is flowing, naturally, through them. They have a built in affinity with healing and nature. One´s vocation, or dharma, is present throughout one´s life. Many people, for whatever reason, miss their vocation altogether and find themselves working at jobs which they hate. This wears them down and they live in despair. Due to a lack of harmony in every department of their lives they find themselves always at war with everyone and everything around them. They are always hurting and asking questions like, ´Why me?´ They find themselves drawn to people of a similar ilk. Always complaining, always criticising and never praying about their situation. They are always blaming. They love to blame God especially. ´It was God. He put me in this mess. I didn´t ask to be born´. If only they would take a step back and check out what they are doing with their lives and with whom they are surrounding themselves. Negative people. Even they have their support groups supporting them in their negativity.

In order to find out what our dharma is we have to take time out to think about what it is that we enjoy doing. What makes us feel alive? What do we do easily? What is it that would make you look forward to another Monday and make you work on all the way through Friday? Can you imagine lifting your head and checking your watch and realising it is past midnight on a Friday night then thinking, ´Wow! I have done it.I have escaped drinks with the losers´? That is what we all need. We need time by ourselves in surroundings, of our own choosing, to sit down and think where we are going from here. It takes self love to do that. All healing comes from love and love starts with love of self. When you are, truly, in an holistic state of health then you can pass that onto others. God works through healed bodies and minds from the soul level; from the inside out.

More about Ralph Maver

More about Ralph Maver

Ralph Maverś healing abilities were discovered, at an early age, by his mother. When he was about four his mother, who suffered from severe migraine headaches, would take his hands and gently lay them upon her head, saying, ´He is a healer´. After a short time the headache went away. During his childhood Ralph did the same as most children. He liked to play with his friends and enjoyed playing games such as ludo and snakes and ladders. He was no different than the other children in his class.
Time went on and he went through secondary school which he left when he was fifteen. Ralph started his working life in a sawmill in Dundee. However, not long after, he started a career in the catering industry. He eventually worked in every department in hotels and restaurants. In the early 1970ś Dundee had many catering establishments. However towards the middle of the decade they became less. If one wanted to continue with a career in catering it was time to move to a bigger city.
In the Summer of 1976 Ralph moved to London. There were many more opportunities there. He worked in different hotels around Central London over a period of twenty years. It was around the mid 1990ś that he became vegetarian. This brought his career in the, mainly, meat oriented catering industry to an end.

Where to go from here?

Having an interest in spiritual life Ralph visited the places of worship of a few different religious groups. After sometime spent searching he found himself most attracted to Vaisnavism, the philosophy of the Hare Krishna movement. Here his gifts were accepted as an impression from previous lives whereas the born again Christians said, narrow mindedly, that these were the work of the devil and to be renounced.
As time passed Ralph found himself spending time at the Temple helping the devotees in their day to day service. In the process of getting to know people he talked about himself and what work he had done previously. It was mentioned, to him, that there was a programme, operated from the Temple, which fed homeless people. He volunteered for this and found himself helping in the kitchen, preparing the vegetables which were to be cooked and distributed to the homeless in Central London. It was only a matter of time till devotees found out about Ralphś healing abilities. Some people told him about their ailments and asked if he could help. He explained that it is not actually he who does the healing and that he is a channel for spirit guides who work through him. Most people were happy with that. This brought about a group of friends with whom to work towards setting up a healing practice. It is always a great thing to have practice buddies and encouragement and support from friends who love you. It is reciprocal and creates win win situations. Both sides benefit.

In Spiritualism they say, ´Love is God; God is Love´. Every loving entity is capable of love. This is due to the presence of the soul. The soul is a minute particle of God maintaining the existence of every living entity. This is what brings about the life force. At the time of death the soul, along with what is known as the subtle body, leaves the body. With the life force gone the body has no qualities. All ability which was once there has left.

The healer can bring about relief in those who are suffering and those around them. Even at the time of death healing can help the dying person to ease the transition from this world to the next. Should one not be well versed in spiritual matters it can come as a bit of a shock to realise that one is no longer in a physical body. Healing and prayer help one to come to terms with this.

We are drawn, naturally, to the bedsides of our friends and loved ones who are about to pass into the next stage of life. Our presence and prayers help the loved one to move forward, smoothly, to the world of Spirit. Death, of the body, is not the end. Life goes on in another dimension. The ´dead´ miss us as much as we miss them. Imagine two big bubbles. You are in one and your loved one is in the other. You cannot touch each other and the bubbles are floating off further and further in different directions. There are a couple of ways in which you can communicate. You can take up telepathy or you can see a medium.
i) Clairvoyance, the gift of clear hearing
ii) Clairaudience, the gift of clear hearing

and

iii) Clairsentience, the gift of clear feeling
are utilised in order to communicate with those who have passed into Spirit as well as with our spirit guides who help us in our day to day lives. Most of us do not know about these guides and the work that they are putting in to keep us going along the right path. In many cases when things do not go as WE want them to go this usually comes about due to our guides steering us in a direction which will work out better for us in the long run. People who possess the gifts aforementioned can connect with our guides and get beneficial information which we can use to further advance in our lives. I should mention that if you decide to visit a medium the advice, from the other side, is being given with the expectation that you act on it. Our guides will bring in people in Spirit at a particular time because we need what that particular person is giving at that particular time.

Healing energy is channelled through the healer into the client or patient. In the Spiritualist aspect of healing the healer channels the healing, through the palms of his hands, into the parts of the clientś body which need healing. Many clients feel heat coming from the healerś hands. This is the healing energy doing its work.

There are many healing techniques which came about in different parts of the world. Some are better known than others.

Many of these traditional ‘hidden arts have been rediscovered and are being used successfully in the modern world.

Should I do a reiki course?

Reiki Courses are usually divided into three parts – 1,2 and Masters. Level 1 is about the student and self healing techniques. During this attunement the Reiki energy will flow into and through your body for the first time. This is an exciting experience. Just sit comfortably and let the rush flow all the way through your body. Enjoy the healing and the new found you. You can let go of and recall that amazing surge at will. Now doesn’t that feel good?
When you move forward to the next step on your healing journey you will be able to let your friends feel that energy pulsing through their bodies. You could even organise a little party to celebrate your new, prospective, career. Wow! How about that? Keep it simple with no alcohol. Just some sandwiches and tea or soft drinks

Once your friends have felt that rush they will be willing ‘guinea pigs’ upon whom you can practise your new found skills. It will not be long before they are telling everyone, they know, what you can do.
As long as you do things properly and build your database, with references, you will soon be climbing into a new career as a self employed therapist. There is more to creating a new career than simply doing the practical, amazing, healing work. You have to keep records. You could start by setting up a simple spreadsheet. On this you must list all client details. Enter name, address, age/date of birth, occupation and symptoms. After every session you pull up the client’s file and add something about how they are progressing.
Like this you keep track.
Keeping in touch with your clients is very important. It lets them know that you value them as people and that you are not just after their money. Make sure to check on your database/spreadsheet every morning. Look for the clients who have a birthday or an anniversary, of some kind, coming up. Send them a card and wish them well. Also keep in touch from time to time to find out how they are. You can keep all the feedback in a journal. This brings about relationships which, in turn, bring about client retention and referrals. People do business with people they know. When they get good service they send their friends along to meet you. In this way you are continuing to build your database.
Another way to build a database is to have a website built. Link your landing page to an autoresponder service and send traffic to your website. The autoresponder service generates a box on your landing page and/or other pages of your site which asks for visitors’ contact details. You put all of these into your database. If someone has been to your site and left their details your emails to them are NOT spam. They have subscribed. A good way to get people to leave their contact details is to offer them something free for signing up. This, for example, could be a free ebook about the subject matter of the website.
An excellent way of getting people’s email addresses is to have a prize draw. Approach shopkeepers who sell a product which, in some way, complements yours and ask if you can attach an explanation of your prize draw, to the counter, alongside some sheets of A4 for them to leave their details. In return you could offer the shopkeeper a free session or a piece of the action which you have created. Then you can choose a couple of email addresses every week or two and give them whatever you have decided is going to be the prize that week.
As time goes on and your product range grows so can the value of the prizes. In this way as well as having a product funnel you can have a prize funnel. It could also be that when someone buys one or two products they get a surprise freebie of value. This provides value to your products as well as to you as a supplier of products of excellence. Happy clients will bring their friends and will become worth their weight in gold. It only takes a few satisfied clients to build a successful business. A business with many satisfied clients will take you beyond your wildest dreams.
A lot of people want to improve and maintain their health. Reiki works holistically – on body mind and soul. Should you feel out of kilter Reiki can definitely do something for you. For how long have you had that feeling that you could do much better than you are, currently, doing? Have you ever actually sat down and thought about it? Have you discussed it with a friend or with your partner? If not, why not? If you have what was the outcome? Are you any closer to improving your circumstances? Did you make a start then fall by the wayside? Did you, perhaps, decide that you are too busy to be taking action on things which can go on the back burner for now? For how long will YOUR life be on hold? Will you accomplish all of those things which you want to get out of the way before you start to think about anything else?

Have you taken the time out to think about the realignment which Reiki could bring about? Reiki can bring focus by bringing mind, body and soul back into kilter. Is this what you want? During times of being disorganised when we are not performing at our best, not on top form, it is due to being out of kilter. There are times when one knows, for sure, that one is off key or out of kilter. When one says, for example, ‘That’s strange! I’m not feeling myself today’ one could likely use a Reiki session to bring one back into line or realignment. At times of illness in our friends or family we, as well as the suffering person, feel out of sorts. Alignment has been, temporarily, lost.

How often do you read self help books? How often do they help? More to the point how often do you help yourself of pray and ask for help? Which do you feel avails most help? Is it the books or the prayer? Perhaps the very essence of the content of the books clicks and wakes you from a self imposed slumber, from time to time. Do you feel that your prayers are answered perhaps even by the content of the books?

Have you ever considered how balanced you may be – or may not be? Do you seek a happy medium between balance and its lack? Is that what you seek every day or ask for as you go off to sleep? How do you research this? Have you considered the possibility that there is more to life than that which we see day to day? How does the, apparently invisible, balance show itself? How to bring about the revelation of subtle and spiritual life which is existing alongside the, very visible, gross material? Is the visible outcome, in the gross material, of rebalance and much improved health enough to prove the existence of the invisible healing energy?

We may have to make do with this limited amount of evidence for now. It is possible, whilst in this realm, with the relevant training, to go a little beyond this apparent lack of proof. Clairvoyants can see the subtle body. It is in this casing that disembodied people or ‘ghosts’ exist. However the soul is definitely a different kettle of vegetables. This can only be seen by very elevated beings a few of whom are present in this realm.
When a Reiki Therapist is working with a client he connects with the subtle body and passes the Reiki healing energy to the client. In some cases the client progresses, quickly, towards a full healing. However in many cases the outcome is more gradual and occurs over a series of sessions. The Reiki Practitioner never promises a full healing. This is left in the hands of God and can be dependent upon the karma of the client.

Usually people seek out a Reiki Therapist for the purposes of being healed of an ailment. However many clients, eventually, decide to become Reiki Therapists. In a lot of cases this is due to the client having had a good experience of Reiki. They, then, want to pass on the gift of Reiki healing to their friends and family. Some choose to make a career of it whereas others just want to help those around them. The world of Reiki is widening and expanding across the globe.
Many healing disciplines exist throughout our planet. Some are attached to religious bodies. Others exist independently and their adherents are free to work, as and when they want, with whom they want to work. No one person or group has a monopoly on God’s energy although some think they do. A thousand years ago priests, in Temples, as well as ‘witches’ were successfully healing the sick. They used the available herbs and energy and got results.
